Tonfa

Back to Weapons

The origin of the Tonfa is believed to have come from the handle of a small gristmill. It sits on top of a circular stone and is used to move a barrel shaped stone on the bottom. There are also speculations that this weapon may have come from China. Weapons like the “Dong-wah” (a light shield) and the “Kuai” (a cane) exist in China that are similar in shape and structure.
