Raiden Chung




When it comes to Martial Arts, Raiden has really big shoes to fill. His father is the Chief Instructor for Seito Shito Ryu Karate in Western Canada, as well as the Chief Instructor for the Vancouver Shibu Dojo for Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan. His mother is the Chief Instructor for the Karate Program at the Arbutus Club Dojo and is a proficient weapons expert. His sister is also proficient in both Karate and Kobudo, having black belts in both disciplines.

Raiden began his Martial Arts training at the young age of 8 yrs old, starting with Shito Ryu Karate. He began his weapons training shortly afterwards. Raiden was awarded his black belt in Karate by the 3rd Grand Master of Shito Ryu, Tsukasa Mabuni in 2011. Raiden was also the gold medalist in his divisions at the 6th, 7th, and 8th World Seito Shito Ryu Karate Championships.

On August 4th, 2017, Raiden Chung was awarded the rank of Nidan by Akamine Hiroshi Sensei, the Kaicho for Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan.
