Brittany Chung

Brittany has the fortunate (or unfortunate) perk of growing up in a martial arts family. Her father and mother are both instructors for Shito Ryu International Karate-do Kai and Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan in the Vancouver area. Brittany, along with her younger brother, Raiden, practices both disciplines religiously.

Brittany began her weapons training at the age of eight with her mom and dad in the Suzuki-ha Kobudo system. She began training in the Ryukyu Kobudo Tesshinkan in 2002 and was awarded her black belt in the Tesshinkan system in 2006 from Sensei Hidemi Tamayose, the President of the Ryukyu Kobudo Tesshinkan. She now practices the traditional art of Okinawa weaponry from the Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan organization under Hiroshi Akamine Sensei.

Brittany is presently completing her degree in university in Vancouver and her hobbies consist of Karate, Kobudo, and Japanese Animation. She currently holds black belts in both Karate and Kobudo. She assists her parents in teaching Karate at the Sea Island Dojo as well as Kobudo at the Dunbar Dojo.

Brittany received her nidan from Akamine Sensei on October 10, 2014 in Ryukyu Kobudo Shimbukan.
